The Condition of Life

March 29, 2012

Life- the condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolismreproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally.

Scene I:
Coming home from dance class, my daughter is telling me about her struggles and feelings of disappointment. She's frustrated because she felt like she had accomplished a goal, and then something happened that caused her to lose it.
Lesson: Anything worth having is worth working {hard} for!

Scene II:
Pregnant woman. Morning sickness. Human worry. The aches and pains of a separate human life growing inside your abdomen. Waiting impatiently on someone else's timing.
Lesson: Sometimes the road is difficult, long and beyond our control. But, what waits for us at the end is beyond anything we could have ever imagined on our own.

Scene III:
Breaking the hard ground after a brutal winter. Fracturing each individual clump of soil into workable form. Hoeing the dirt into mounds. Hours of physical labor leaving behind sore muscles and hot skin as a reminder of the day's agenda. And then, placing tiny seeds of hope into the ground. Carefully watering, and willing life to spring forth.
Lesson: God will provide abundantly when we put in the time and effort. We cannot out-give the Giver!

In life, we are all growing and changing. Some more deliberately than others. It's not going to be without struggles or disappointments along the way. We will all have our setbacks. But, we must carry on. Push through the pain, as in childbirth. Put in the hours of preparing, watering, and even weeding before we can see the harvest. But, our God is faithful. He is Mercy. He is Grace. He will honor the faithful with more than enough.

So, when you face what seems to be a roadblock, don't stop. Look for the detour and keep on going! There is always a blessing ahead.

"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." James 1:2-4

"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive." Jeremiah 29:13-14

"The thief does not come except to steal, kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10
