I'm Baaaccckkk!

July 27, 2011

Well, I am Home Sweet Home. Freddie and I had such a wonderful time on our cruise. We've been operating together as "parents" for the past twelve years, I wondered how we'd do functioning strictly as a "couple". Turns out, we've still got it after all these years.

We left for Mobile, AL early Thursday morning. I decided not to wake Aubree up because I didn't want the stress of the actual separation. We said our good-byes to the big kids and we were off! The trip there was really good.

Then, the real fun began...
I snapped this pic and texted it to the kids! Yay!!!!!

We finally boarded the ship and grabbed a bite to eat, meeting up with several of Freddie's high school classmates. I must say, I did not enjoy that first lunch, but, the food certainly improved from that point on. I had over-baked fish and a salad. I ate it. I guess I shouldn't complain. It filled the hole.

We spent the afternoon catching up/meeting with Freddie's friends. I wish I could tell you what I ate at dinner that first night... I think I had the shrimp appetizer.. but, what I ate for my entree escapes me. Maybe the pirate shook me up too badly.

Sorry. I'm not the best "photo scanner person".  Humor me, please.

Freddie ended up taking out the pirate and saving the day...

Friday we spent pretty much the whole day soaking up the sun! It was really nice not having to worry about keeping track of the kids. I was able to relax.

The next day we pulled into Cozumel. I had been to Cancun several times before, but, this was my first time in Cozumel. The water was absolutely gorgeous! It was the prettiest turquoise you've ever seen!

We took a catamaran to Passion Island where there were all sorts of things to do. We did paddle boats and water trampolines.

We had a lot of fun. Even though by Saturday morning I was crying for my kids. I missed them so much and I constantly kept thinking about how they'd love this or how they'd be doing that if they were with us. I can't wait to bring them on a cruise. I had a much harder time being separated from them than they did from me. Before the cruise, I bought them a present for each day we'd be gone- a craft basket with lots of paint and glue and wiggly eyes, a kit to make sock puppets, brownie mix, sidewalk chalk, and a card game. I also typed them a letter for each day telling them what we'd be doing and how much we missed them and loved them. It must have worked because they had so much fun! They were very excited to see us when we got home though! {Yes, I sobbed like a baby at the mere sight of them!}

I experienced several "firsts" while on this cruise. I went on my very first water slide (Yes, pathetic, I know. I live under a rock.)

I tried sushi for the first time...
I'm just pretending to be enjoying it. I don't love it.
Freddie tried it too...
I don't think he's a big fan either.
The first day of the cruise, Freddie got this lady to airbrush a tattoo of his high school mascot on his shoulder. It was really cute.

He made sure to get his money's worth...

We had a wonderful vacation. The food was good. The service was excellent. I felt like a queen not having to worry about what to eat, when to eat, if the kids were eating, doing laundry, or cleaning the floors. I loved every minute I got to spend with Freddie. His friends turned out to be so much fun! I haven't laughed that much in a long time. We watched some really funny shows and, somehow, I managed to gain three pounds.  I cannot wait to do it again in five years. In the end, it was the perfect amount of time- long enough for us to relax and enjoy ourselves, but, by the time we pulled back into Mobile, we were ready to come home to our little children!

Freddie and I are going on a Cruise for his 20 year High School Reunion. {Yes. It's been 20 years. We graduated early- like when we were 12.}

We are leaving our kids with their grandparents, which we've never done before. There is a little trepidation all the way around. I bought a gift for them for each day we'll be gone- something that will keep them busy. Fun stuff that involves lots of glue and scissors and baking and mess. Oh. And paint.

I am a little excited and a little nervous. It will be nice to be able to relax without worrying about anyone drowning while I try to get a little suntan. It will be REALLY nice to not have to worry about any housework. I hope I don't get bored. I do tend to get antsy. Hopefully I won't get "cabin fever" because it's a long swim back home! We've been on a cruise before, but, we called port almost every day then. This time we've got a few days at sea. Those are the days I'm worried about.

Well. My bags are not going to pack themselves. I've gotta get a move on! I'll be back here with all the details in about a week or so!

Guessing Game: Clue #1

July 11, 2011

I have really been enjoying my summer. It's been such a wonderful luxury to take time off from school and just give myself and my kids permission to just ride out the summer months. Our summer has been filled with lots of free time, play time, and pool time. We've sprinkled in a dance revue, countless play dates, and a birthday or two for good measure. We've even spent some time with sand between our toes. Summer isn't over yet, and neither is the fun. There are still several things on my "Summer Bucket List" that I'd like to accomplish before September.

I've been posting lots of pictures of our adventures over the past few weeks, so, I thought that it would be fun to continue with that theme. There is something coming up, we'll refer to it as The Event for now. Over the next several days, I will post a picture Clue of what The Event is. Feel free to leave a Guess in the Comments as to what you think The Event may be.

Clue #1:

Dog Days of Summer

July 7, 2011

I know. I'm officially a loser. My blog has been thrown to the curb. For now. I will return to a more "regular" schedule. I promise. Maybe it's more of a warning than a promise, depending on how you feel about my blog.

We've been busy going about the business of getting every last drop out of our summer, and I've got the pictures to prove it.
I love how Brant is always trying to "get in" on the pic!

She's at the age where I have to BRIBE her to look at the camera and smile when I want to take her picture.

BUSTED! Trying to sneak in the "BIG" pool.

Unlike Brant, he was trying to AVOID me taking his pic!

Looks like somebody got her way. But, she has to wear floaties if Mom or Dad is not in the pool. She has become such an amazing swimmer. It is UNREAL!

Looks like I might have bribed him, too.

Look my "gobbles", Mom!

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourself treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
